Fundy Trail Provincial Park

Dear Road Trip Enthusiast,

Really get into the road trip spirit by exploring our 30 kilometre (19 mile) linear Fundy Trail Provincial Park! This Fundy coastal park boasts natural, unspoiled beauty with incredible views up and down the Bay of Fundy. You can spend the day in our park starting with a picnic at one of the many lookout points along the way. A staff favourite picnic site is Martin Head Lookout where you can admire the powerful bay meeting the steep cliffs of the Fundy coast.

Meet up with a Fundy Trail Provincial Park interpreter for a walk to learn about the history of our park, the flora and fauna and just enjoy the park from a different point of view. You may even encounter one of our four-legged or winged park residents along the way! As you travel out of the park you will want to stop to enjoy the many hiking trails, waterfalls and lookouts. One you won’t want to miss is the Walton Glen Gorge lookout that shows off what is known as the “Grand Canyon” of New Brunswick. The difference? Our canyon is packed with beautiful New Brunswick trees that are 250+ years old, a sight that will leave you in awe! With such a large park with so much to do, you may need to plan a few visits, but for now, we are happy to send you on your way to your next road trip destination.

Dear Summer Camping Fan,

New River Beach Provincial Park is always ready to welcome you to experience summer on the Bay of Fundy coast. Whether you’re roughing it in a tent or stepping it up in one of our cozy rustic shelters, you’ll enjoy a restful night in our quiet, wooded campground.

Before hitting the road in the morning, stretch your legs on one of New Brunswick’s largest, sandy beaches or warm up your muscles on our Barnaby Head Trail. You’ll feel like you’re hiking three different trails in one when as you traverse coastal forest, rugged cliffs, and flourishing bogs. This park has it all and we just know you will love staying with us before exploring the rest of our provincial parks.

Dear Island Explorer,

Being Parks New Brunswick’s southern most provincial park, Herring Cove is only a couple of ferry rides away! But don’t forget your passport in case you would like to skip the ferry ride and stick to dry land by entering the island through Lubec, Maine.

Delight in being “down south” Fundy Island style in our park that is a stone’s throw away from all of the natural, historical, and culinary experiences that the island has to offer. For your road-trip companions that are looking for a hiking adventure, they will find them all around Herring Cove Provincial Park. Park trails are ready to welcome hikers of all skill levels to enjoy the clear island air, discover old growth forest, and maybe even catch sight of one of the many whale species that visit the island waters in the summer. You and your entourage are also welcome to play a round of golf on our nine-hole picturesque course during your stay.

Our beach at low tide offers an expansive sandy exploration experience. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy our front row seat to the Bay of Fundy!

Dear Golf Fans,

If you’re lucky enough to have visited our four-season park in the winter, you’ll love what this riverside playground has to offer for your summer road trip through New Brunswick! Mactaquac Provincial Park can be your golfing getaway with an 18-hole parkland par 72 Championship Golf Course. With five sets of tees, the course can be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels, beginners to pros alike!

Mactaquac Provincial Park’s golf course will be welcoming the PGA TOUR Americas for the inaugural Explore NB Open in 2024. Wouldn’t it make a great road trip story to tell your friends when you get home, that you played on the same course as the pros?

When you’re not playing golf, relax in the largest campground that our provincial parks have to offer, where you will find a variety of campsite types to choose from. Stay in a tent, rustic shelter, Ch-A-let or park your motorhome in one of our fully serviced sites.

Stretch your legs on one of the park’s easy to moderate trails, including one of our multiple accessible trails, relax on the soft, sandy beach, challenge the aerial treetop adventure course or launch your boat from the in-park marina. Mactaquac is a summer destination that has something for everyone on your road trip invite list but remember to come back in the fall, winter and spring to see how the park changes throughout the year!

North Lake Provincial Park

Dear Nature Lovers,

If you want to find serenity, calm and quiet and a place to recharge after your first four road trip destinations, North Lake Provincial Park is the oasis you’ve been waiting for. The calm lake and semi-private wooded campsites will have you feeling like you and your traveling companions are the only people on earth. Set up your home away from home on the soft forest floor and feel the calm set in as you drift off to sleep.

Mornings on the lake will connect you with nature in a way that you won’t find anywhere else. Paddle the water and maybe even catch your breakfast on the lake! With your catch in-hand you can head on back to your campsite to cook it up over a fire.

North Lake Provincial Park is a truly backcountry experience with un-serviced campsites and limited amenities. But for those who prefer some camping luxuries, don’t despair! It has been said by past campers that we have the cleanest outhouses they’ve ever seen!

Dear Family and Friends,

We are excited to welcome you to Northern New Brunswick with open arms to the provincial park that has something the whole family will love. République Provincial Park will have your youngest road trippers busy from the time you pass through our campground gate until the moment you’re hitting the road again. With so many summer activities planned and amenities to enjoy, your visit will make incredible family memories. Cool off in our outdoor pool, challenge each other to a competitive game of ping-pong or take in a show at our amphitheatre. Daytime and evening fun never stops!

Enjoy a sense of community in our open campground with weekly bonfires that bring everyone together. We also offer a community garden from which we welcome campers to harvest to enhance those summer campfire recipes! Dear Mountain Climbers,

The highest peak in the Maritimes awaits you here at Mount Carleton, are you ready for the challenge? Here in the park, we have 11 hiking trails that range from easy to very strenuous so you and your road-trip friends can break off into groups based on skill level or face the mountain together! When you’re not hiking the forest, you can put your feet up and relax in our lodge-café. Our warm and inviting lodge has snacks and drinks to enjoy as you look out over Lake Nictau and watch the sunset.

After the sun sets, you won’t want to miss what our dark sky preserve designation has to offer. See more stars than you’ll see anywhere else on your road trip journey. If you’re lucky enough to visit when the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada is in the park, you’re in for a treat! Their knowledgeable astronomers know so much about the star-studded skies!

As you reach the awe-inspiring nature of the most northern part of our province, your New Brunswick adventure is about to get amped up at Sugarloaf Provincial Park. You will pull up to your beautiful Ch-A-let accommodations where you can set up for lunch with your very own, private BBQ. Then, the real adventure begins! With the convenience of bike rentals right in the park, there is no need to pack up and travel with your own. You and the family can spend your day shredding the trails of this adrenaline pumping, lift access mountain bike park. Plan your visit in August and you can be a part of the annual Adrenaline Bike Festival with special guest host: Crankworx Summer Series!

Sugarloaf Provincial Park offers many other summer events and amenities that include hiking trails, e-bike rentals, guided rides and more for their summer camping and day-use guests. Climb to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain and check off one of the coolest summit hikes in New Brunswick!

It’s time to soak up the sun and good times at Parlee Beach Provincial Park. We invite you to our warm, sandy beach complete with a tiki bar and mobi mat! It’s time to climb out of your car, stretch and swim out your road trip muscles in the warmest salt water in Canada. Practice your serve on one of our beach volley ball courts, join in a sunset beach yoga experience or visit our new accessible pirate ship playground. Not far from the beach you’ll find all the amenities you need for a great day right here in the park. You can grab a drink and a bite for everyone in your traveling party at our on-site restaurant and you won’t want to miss out on their specialty ice cream donut sandwich dessert!

After a day at the beach, you will want to stick around and join us in the second largest of all of the provincial park campgrounds. Our open concept campground offers a feeling of community where kids (or adults) can run freely and really enjoy their camping experience. Relax by the fire and recharge for another day at the beach before you head on your way to your next road trip destination!

Our beach is the perfect place to begin a coastal paddle board, kayak or canoe experience with stunning views of the Confederation Bridge and many coves to explore. If you enjoy exploring, spend the day on our beach and see what the tides bring in.

After a day of exploration and paddle sport fun, our inviting, newly renovated campground is ready for you to kick up your feet, unroll your sleeping bag and experience a sunset like no other over the Northumberland Strait. Wake up to the sound of gentle waves before stepping out on the steps/ramp of your Rustic Shelter and breathe in the fresh ocean air. Murray Beach Provincial Park

The Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park

Dear Ocean Floor Explorers,

Walk where the highest tides in the world deposit 160 billion tons of water twice daily on the coast of New Brunswick. Visiting the Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park is an ocean floor experience that can show you the power of the Bay of Fundy where rock formations have been sculpted by nature over thousands of years defying the force of the bay’s salt water. Our knowledgeable park interpreters are always available to share the rich history of the area and get you fully immersed into the science behind the highest tides in the world. At low tide you can take the 100-step stairwell or accessible ramp down to walk on the ocean floor and make your way through four massive coves filled with nature’s architecture.

At high tide, we have several observation decks to view just how high the tide comes in, where you will see kayakers paddling in and around the rocks! Book your own guided kayaking adventure and you could be gliding through the water under the famous lover’s arch.

With so much to do in our park, you’ll need to replenish your energy with a hearty locally sourced meal in our High Tide restaurant. Before hitting the road, learn more in our interpretive centre and visit the gift shop to take home a special souvenir like one of our famous “I Walked on the Ocean Floor” pins.
