Follow the 1.2 km footpath and you can visit two observation decks situated in the wetlands. While the trail itself is often relatively dry, in periods following heavy rain you may wish to wear boots. Wetlands are areas that have a water table at or near the surface of the ground or have shallow water covering the ground, causing the area to be wet for an ecologically significant part of the year. Wetlands have unique soil characteristics and vegetation that is adapted to a wet environment. The interaction of hydrology (water), vegetation, and soil results in the development of characteristics unique to wetlands.
