Suspension Bridge
Above
the Interpretive Centre, near the salmon pools at
the site of the original covered bridge which once
stood here, is a suspension footbridge across the
crystal clear waters of the Big Salmon River, a popular
spot for visitors. As you
walk around the river banks you will see many majestic
sights; ie: the clear waters of the river, the suspension
bridge, the remnants of the old wharfs, and the sluices
on the hills by the river. Sport
fishing used to be important here, with salmon plentiful,
but with the decline of the East Coast fishery, the
salmon are gone here too.
