School Programs
We support education at the Fundy Trail. We are committed to helping children of all ages appreciate the wilderness and learn more about themselves and others.
Outdoor environmental education programs are available for students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12. These hands-on learning experiences challenge students both physically and mentally, inspire them, and help them become more aware of their surrounding environment. Our programs are curriculum-based to assist teachers in developing their students knowledge and skills. We provide a fun and unique out of classroom setting, and we encourage participation by one and all.

For all education programs, the Fundy Trail requires a supervisor to student ratio of 1:10. Supervisors and teachers are expected to stay with their groups. Students are required to bring their lunches as we do not have a cafeteria (a small concession is available). Several picnic sites and benches are available. When booking programs be aware the weather may be different from the weather at your place of origin. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that students come with appropriate footwear for hiking, and proper outerwear.
The fee per student is $2.50 (tax included). Teachers and required number of supervisors are complimentary. The fee for extra supervisors will be $3.00 (plus tax) per person.
Teachers and trip organizers are encouraged to speak with one of our guides to establish objectives for their program. Below is an overview of the programs available:
Kindergarten to Grade 3: Students would learn about flora and fauna, and some of the animals that may be found in the area. The guide would introduce North, South, East and West. One of the focuses of this field trip is to have the students learn what to do if they should ever happen to get lost in the woods. The guide would cover information on what to do, where to go and why these things should be done. After stopping at Fox Rock, Melvin's Beach Lookout, and Parking Lot #4 to view Fuller Falls and walk the cable ladder, they would continue to the Interpretive Centre to view a video and walk to the Suspension Bridge. They would be required to answer several questions related to the information.
Grade 4 to 6: The main focus of this age group would be awareness of their environment. The importance of clean air, taking care of wildlife and staying on the trail to avoid damaging nature. Students will learn characteristics of the Bay of Fundy and information on Atlantic Salmon. They would be required to hike four kms to Fuller Falls while learning to identify certain types of trees and bushes grown in the area, finding samples of leaves, trees and flowers. Then they will proceed to the Interpretive Centre to view a video and the Suspension Bridge.
Grade 7 to 12: Students learn to experience nature as they identify vegetation, birds and rock formation. Information on life in the bay, both fish and dulse will be covered. They would be made aware of their environment by watching for garbage receptables, outhouses and water stations in order to deep the trail clean. They'll also be focusing on where students are located on the bay, N,S,E,W, identifying flowers, trees and browsing would be covered. Also students learn about what to do before going on a hike. A bit of history and folklore are options for this age group.
