Heritage Way of Life - Sawmill Project

Plans are in the development stage for a heritage sawmill and an ecological Learning Quest -Discovery Experience demonstrating the type of logging and forest harvesting conducted by the original settlers and lumbering companies in the Big Salmon River and area in the 1800's.  This project will illustrate the cultural and heritage highlights of the region.  The regenereative forces of nature reclaimed historic settlements; interpretation of this heritage and the power of nature will be interwoven.

This project will create awareness not only of the Fundy Trail and St. Martins, but also the Bay of Fundy and the province of New Brunswick.  It is a new market that has not been approached before and it will be the first man-powered sawmill in Atlantic Canada to offer an interpretive program for our visitors as a tourism attraction.  The Fundy Trail multi-use trail will serve as an outdoor classroom and practical exploration area for visitors, schools and other special interest groups.
